African American Male Alliance
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Bound together by a spirit of unity, our youth (youngins) and adults (elders) are committed to the principles and values of respect, humility, perseverance, compassion, and grace which enable us to navigate life’s challenges with a sensibility of self-reliance and interdependence.
TARGET AUDIENCE
7th - 12th Graders
Young Black and Brown men and their younger brothers. 5th & 6th grade are welcomed with written permission from parents or caregivers
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
Monthly Meetings, Workshops or Social Activities.
AAMA meets primarily on Saturdays for three hours, once per month, and other special occasions. Activities include service projects, speaker workshops, social gatherings, and cultural outings.
Annual Leadership
Retreat
Mentees and mentors celebrate success in a fun and engaging activity aimed at demonstrating healthy fun, competition, team building and leadership development.
AAMA Book Club, & Academic Achievement & Incentive programs
To encourage the pursuit of academic excellence and nurturing intellectual curiosity, AAMA gives away books, and has established an AAMA book club.
CORE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES AND GOALS

Provide mentees African American role models who are committed to sharing their life’s experiences and wisdom to help them see and realize their own possibilities.

Engage in social, cultural, professional, and educational activities that contribute to mentees’ personal and social development.

Engage in service-learning activities and opportunities to gain experience as leaders in team building, communication, and organizational skills.
